Virginia Beach Bayside Active Trip: July 7 - July 9

324.00

Some people like the pampering of a resort stay, while others prefer an active lifestyle while on vacation. This trip is designed for those who cannot decide which they like better.

We'll stay at a 3-star resort hotel featuring an indoor pool, spa, sauna, and health club. But when we leave the hotel, we'll have the options of kayaking along the Chesapeake bay, biking through First Landing State Park, or playing a few sets at the Virginia Beach Tennis Club... all included in this package.

Not all beaches need two-star hotels, a boardwalk, and nightclubs. Sometimes you just want to get on the water and paddle into the bay. Join Torque Tours for a resort weekend on Virginia Beach's bayside for a couple days of cycling, paddling, and relaxation.

Included in the packages offered by Torque Tours:

  • Round-trip shared shuttle service from Washington, DC to our bayside hotel in Virginia Beach
  • Free use of bicycles provided by the hotel (3 hour maximum)
  • Complimentary play at the Virginia Beach Tennis Club (3 hours maximum)
  • 1/2 day kayak rental from Happy Winds Kiteboarding (or other rental of equivalent value)
  • Two-night stay in a bayview suite at a 3-star resort hotel

Simple Itinerary (Subject to change; all activities except shuttle service are optional)

Friday
We will depart Washington from Rhode Island Avenue station at 3:30 pm. Please do not arrive late. After a roadside stop for dinner, we anticipate arriving at the resort around 9:00 pm.

Saturday
Saturday is the day to take advantage of your options. Those who want to visit the Tennis Club will be provided with an Uber code to cover one-way travel. If you would prefer to spend a half day on the water, we can rent kayaks or other boating and beach lounging equipment from Happy Winds Kiteboarding shack on the beach. In the afternoon, the tour leader will organize a bicycle excursion along the Cape Henry Trail to First Landing State Park.

Sunday
Early risers can spend one last morning on the beach. We will check out of our hotel at 10:00 am and spend a couple hours further exploring the trails of First Landing State Park, weather permitting. Around noon, we will stop for lunch (not included in the package) and head home. We anticipate arriving back in Washington around 5:30 pm.

Sleeping partners, if necessary, will be decided by the group at large. All beds would be double bed sized or larger.

Is there any way I can guarantee a bed or room to myself?

If you want to guarantee a single bed or room to yourself, you will need to purchase a single supplement. Please send an email to torque@torquetours.com describing your request for a single supplement. Single beds and rooms may not always be available, so it is advantageous to make your request as early as possible.

Use the discount code DRIVER15 when purchasing this trip to save $15 per person you register under the assumption that you and your guests will drive your own vehicle. Please note that you and your guests still must check in at the designated meeting location at 3:30 pm to receive driving directions and to sign a special release waiver. You are not guaranteed a designated parking space at the hotel and may need to find your own parking, especially if multiple customers take advantage of the driver discount.

Which meals are included?
